Kandidati ruske vladajuće stranke su pomeli konkurenciju na regionalnim izborima u zemlji, prema službenim rezultatima objavljenim u ponedjeljak.
Kandidati stranke Jedinstvena Rusija osvojili su veliku većinu glasova u svakoj od 21 izborne utrke. Aleksandar Beglov, guverner sjevernog grada Sankt Peterburga, koji je prema preliminarnim rezultatima osvojio nešto manje od 60 posto glasova, ostvario je najgori rezultat.
Beglov se smatra nepopularnim zbog lošeg upravljanja Sankt Peterburgom. Nezavisni promatrači su zabilježili visoku razinu uplitanja na izborima u Sankt Peterburgu, rodnom gradu predsjednika Vladimira Putina. Službeno prebrojavanje i dalje traje.

U drugim pokrajinama, dužnosnici Jedinstvene Rusije su ponovno izabrani s oko 80 posto glasova, poput Igora Babuškina koji je u Astrahanskoj oblasti osvojio 78,17 posto ili Vladimira Vladimirova koji je u Stavropoljskom kraju dobio 79,61 posto.
U Kurskoj oblasti, koju su djelomično okupirale ukrajinske snage, privremeni guverner Aleksandar Smirnov je dobio 65 posto podrške. Posebna biračka mjesta su osigurana za oko 120.000 izbjeglica iz napadnute pokrajine.
Glasanje je diljem Rusije trajalo od petka do nedjelje, a izabrano je i nekoliko pokrajinskih parlamenata. Izbori se smatraju ispitivanjem podrške stanovništva za vodstvo u Moskvi nakon dvije i pol godine rata protiv Ukrajine. (Hina)
